Tone paragraphs

In the article, “Why The U.S. Chills Its Eggs And Most Of The World Doesn’t,” the author has a very casual tone.  His style is very laid back but displays his research in a way that is easy to understand.  He does a great job of separating his argument from others by using clear quotes and stating what countries tend to do what.  His argument is set up in a way that is very easy for the reader to follow, he separates his facts with description of what he is about to say.

The chapter about wooden spoons is a more formal tone, but the author starts with a funny first sentence which adds personality to the writing and is a good opening to his argument.  The author is very descriptive while describing the different aspects.  His tone really draws in the reader.  He also does a good job with the background information and providing enough information and not to much.

In my writing I would like to have an intriguing first paragraph like these two authors have and use a formal tone but one that draws readers in by using good descriptions
