For Wednesdays Class

Articles:

After reading the two articles I found that both authors had a specific tone they wrote in. Especially in the Egg article, the author wrote in a very playful tone. Poking fun at how Americans are obsessed with the idea of things being clean. They even compared Americans thoughts and feelings to those in various other countries. I found this very interesting when it came to connecting to the article. When authors compared their topic to others it made it easier for me as the reader to connect to the topic. Because even if I haven’t used a wooden spoon in cooking, I have at least seen an electronic mixer being used. I enjoyed how they also went into detail into the uses of each. There are many difference ways one can use a wooden spoon for cooking. Though it is human nature to try and make things easier, sometimes going back to the basics is key and we can easily see that through the tone and how the authors illustrate a wooden spoon in the kitchen.  I also enjoyed how they went into a little background knowledge of the technology itself. It helps the ready capture a mental picture of how the user used it in the past, and how it has changed since then.

Introduction:

Guns have built the society that we live in today, and have become very prominent in our lives. Whether we see guns in our media, or throughout our everyday lives, they are constantly affecting the way we see our world. Now in the 21st century, after all the chaos that has erupted because of them, we must now understand how some people can use them for protection and the feeling seemingly safe. The second amendment has given our society the right to bear arms since 1791, however now things have changed in our world. We must now think whether a community who values security overrides the importance of keeping the second amendment? Or does an individual’s value of taking their protection into their own hands allow us to risk the safety of others. This has been the core argument for years, and it is hard to say if there is even a ‘right’ side. Our society’s values and the use of guns has vastly changed over the past 200 years, we now must ask ourselves if there is a better system?

Changed Intro:

To some they can be considered a statement piece. With their assortment of parts, along with their gleaming exteriors, they can bring security to some, or be used for darkness by others. They are loud, flashy, and inhuman. Some could even say they have it all. They have been fought over for years, admired, and bring a sort of ease over the owner’s mind.

What technology could do such things? Guns. They have built the society that we live in today, and have become very prominent in our lives. Whether we see guns in our media, or throughout our everyday lives, they are constantly affecting the way we see our world.
